I only started running 4 years ago when my husband suggested that we run a Disney race. I literally laughed and said that I would be happy to cheer him on from the sidelines. He signed me up anyway, and I figured that I might as well try. After a couple training miles, I was hooked. I mean hooked. I loved it. It melted stress away. I felt strong. “Can’t” was no longer part my thinking. I’ve never been overweight. I don’t have a pounds lost number to impress you with. Running has changed my entire outlook on life. I have been humbled and inspired by many who have had longer, harder journeys than mine. I am so proud to be part of this community. An incredible tribe of people who are often seen as “crazy”, running, biking, succeeding at all hours in all conditions to better themselves, the future, and the lives of others. I am wiping away tears after watching the inaugural recap video. I don’t even know most of these people, but I am so proud of them. They have achieved amazing accomplishments that they probably once thought were impossible. Endurance sports change lives. I want to represent Team Beef because I believe in community. I don’t believe in potions for success. I believe in hard work and real food. Running and food (well, and beer) are my favorite things. I want to join a team of like minded people who want to be healthy and live a full life. I want to inspire others to get off the couch and realize that while it will change your life, you can still live fully and enjoy moderation of the foods you eat! You don’t have to be on some crazy diet to look and feel good.
